About the Role
The Company is seeking a CHAIR/DIRECTOR for its Biology Department. The successful candidate will be the chief executive of the academic unit, responsible for fostering a climate that promotes knowledge, providing visionary leadership, and ensuring the quality and development of academic programs. This role involves serving as the principal advocate for the unit, managing course schedules, faculty workload, and the unit's fiscal and physical resources. The CHAIR/DIRECTOR will also be expected to maintain effective personnel management procedures, communicate the unit's mission externally, and respond to the needs of various stakeholders.
Applicants for the CHAIR/DIRECTOR position must have a terminal degree in a relevant field, with a strong record of research and scholarly achievements. The role requires the ability to establish and maintain good rapport with the academic community and the public, work collaboratively, and make sound decisions. Experience in academic administration and a history of acquiring and managing external funding are preferred. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology, a commitment to academic quality, and the ability to manage physical resources such as laboratories and teaching spaces. The position is security-sensitive and IT-sensitive, and the candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
