POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Director is responsible for recruiting, maintaining, and evaluating facility employees. They collaborate with Department Managers to foster a positive and professional work culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are essential functions of the Human Resources Director role. This list provides a general overview and may be adjusted based on facility needs as determined by the Regional Supervisor or corporate designee.

  1. The Human Resources Director sets the tone for a positive, professional, and engaging work environment.
  2. Encourages employees' training and personal growth in collaboration with Department Managers.
  3. Uses recruiting platforms as directed to identify potential candidates.
  4. Oversees the hiring process and orientation for new employees.
  5. Ensures completion of all hiring paperwork, background checks, licensure verification, and training.
  6. Maintains employee records in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  7. Oversees employee evaluations and enforces the employee code of conduct and facility policies.
  8. Orders employee uniforms as per policy.
  9. Obtains Medical History Questionnaires from new hires and annually from current employees.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  11. Provides new hires with access to necessary computer programs and physical keys.
  12. Verifies COVID-19 vaccination status and manages exemption filings.
  13. Enrolls employees in insurance benefit programs and informs them of open enrollment periods.
  14. Ensures employees complete required Dementia Training at least every 90 days for new hires.
  15. May serve as a witness in disciplinary discussions and mediate employee issues to promote teamwork.
  16. Works with Department Managers to reduce employee turnover.
  17. Stays informed of regulations and survey requirements related to nursing care facilities.
  18. Reports work-related injuries and maintains OSHA logs as required.
  19. Assists with answering facility phone calls and managing Accounts Payable entries and vendor communications.
  20. Ensures adequate office supplies and equipment for staff.
  21. Notifies administration of legal issues, claims, or requests for information in a timely manner.
  22. Monitors departmental staffing needs and oversees employee timekeeping and payroll accuracy.
  23. May collect employee satisfaction data and implement improvements.
  24. Acts professionally to promote the facility's positive community image.
  25. Communicates effectively and courteously with residents, families, staff, and vendors.
  26. Maintains confidentiality and complies with HIPAA regulations.
  27. Attends required training sessions and adheres to the facility's compliance and conduct policies.
  28. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: The following are minimum requirements and preferred qualifications.

  • Freedom from illegal drug use and workplace substance abuse.
  • Ineligibility for employment if convicted of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in healthcare settings.
  • Preferred: Human Resource and LTC experience.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma.
