Early Child Care Assistant Coordinator/Lead Teacher

The Early Child Care Assistant Coordinator/Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. This role requires full compliance with Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and supports the goals of the Texas Rising Star program. This role will also assist the Daycare Coordinator in the daily operation, supervision, and administration of the CUBS Early Learning Center; this role may also serve as a leadership presence and may act in the coordinator's absence when delegated.

Education/Certification: Child Development Associate credential or Certified Child Care Professional credential with six college credit hours in management

Special Knowledge/Skills: Thorough understanding of childcare center operations Effective organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills Ability to coordinate center functions Ability to implement policy and procedures Demonstrated knowledge of state childcare guidelines and licensing requirements Ability to manage budget and personnel

Experience: Two years' experience in a licensed childcare center

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Child Care Operations
• Assist the coordinator with maintaining high quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
• Assist in facilitating the planning and coordination of the children's educational programs and activities.
• Maintain consistent, open, and effective communication with parents while providing education training and support as needed.
• Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs.
• Policy, Reports, and Law
• Assist the coordinator with implementing federal and state law, Department of Family Protective Services rule, and board policy
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
• Maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program to include their development, attendance, immunization, and general health.
• Prepare reports to Child Protection Services (CPS) and other agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of enrollees.
• Assist the coordinator with employee time records to ensure all are accurately maintained and data necessary to process payroll is delivered in a timely manner.
• Classroom Responsibilities
• Know and follow all Minimum Standards for licensed childcare centers.
• Maintain active supervision at all times by: Knowing each child's name, age, and total number of children in your care Maintaining visual and auditory awareness of each child's activity Remaining physically close enough to intervene quickly if necessary. Remain free from non-care duties such as: Administrative or clerical tasks not related to child supervision. Janitorial responsibilities Personal use of electronic devices

• Oversee the training and professional development of all childcare staff.
• School or Community Relations Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Articulate the center's mission to employees and other stakeholders and solicit support in realizing the mission. Interact with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and fairness.
• Safety
• Help ensure measures are in place and operating to protect students, staff, supplies, and equipment. Assist the coordinator with maintaining safety standards conforming with federal, state, and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive safety. Implement and follow district safety protocols and emergency protocols. Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Assist the coordinator (as needed) with supervising and evaluating.
