Instructional Coach

Provide curriculum leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program.

Qualifications:

  • Teaching certification as required by the Texas Education Agency
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of curriculum implementation
  • Knowledge of curriculum vertical alignment
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Teaching experience in a primary classroom

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing professional goals
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation
  • Engage in modeling, teaching, and demonstrating instructional strategies that are effective with primary students
  • Assist in data collection and interpretation
  • Work with the campus administrative team to establish and maintain challenging academic standards
  • Interprets and applies research to improve student performance
  • Model how to develop lesson plans that incorporate ELPS and differentiated instruction
  • Plan and provide staff development, including sessions on instructional methods that are effective for primary students
  • Plan and conduct parent meetings and training sessions for campus families
  • Possess and utilize leadership skills and cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress of all students
  • Provide professional communication with community members, staff, and other professionals at all times
  • Provide professional communication with district staff at all times
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Customer Care Skills:

  • Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times
  • Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly
  • Take reliable messages, and route them to the appropriate staff
  • Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others
  • Ensure all requests for information are addressed within an appropriate timeframe
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of the mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
