Look no further.Position TitleConsultation Lab Tech III/PhlebotomistReporting to the Donor Collections Manager and a dotted line to the NDC Operations and Technical Services Manager, the position prepares special blood components and performs patient testing, and serves as a hospital services representative. It also handles routine work related to setup and tear down of mobile sites, screening, collection, and hematroning of blood and blood products during facility operations and mobiles as needed. This position has routine contact with hospital staff by phone and in person, frequent contact with the donor public, and blood clients requiring a high level of customer service. The role rotates on‑call duties to provide after‑hours consultation services and backs up on‑call hospital services staff.Just For YouCareer advancement.Engaging and exciting opportunity to SAVE LIVES.Tips to thrive in our cultureEmbody our Core Values of Commitment, Integrity, and Respect.Work to actively create experiences that inspire others to save lives each and every day.Embrace doing it right, making connections, and creating desired experiences.Comply with all organizational policies and standards, including safety rules, and be willing to report actual and potential violations to the appropriate supervisor or manager.In this role, you willPerform, interpret, and document patient and routine donor serological testing in SafeTraceTX® and prepare consultation reports.Select, perform, and interpret more complex antibody identification using specified special techniques as required to resolve blood investigative patient problems under the guidance of the Technical Services Manager.Communicate with internal and external customers regarding patient requests and samples.Prepare reagents, wet samples for educational purposes, and enter rare cell samples into the Access Data Base.Record and place filled orders for antigen‑negative red blood cells in SafeTraceTX®.Initiate and complete incoming and outgoing hospital orders in the BECS.Perform necessary quality control activities and documentation.Perform Driver I duties and act as Shift Coordinator when necessary.Assist with the loading, unloading, set‑up, and tear‑down of equipment at mobile donor and/or NDC sites.Perform pre‑donation screening, venipuncture, and post‑venipuncture care of donors in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.Rotate on‑call duties to provide after‑hours services for consultation and serve as backup on‑call Driver II.Assist in orienting and training other staff members.Must comply with OSHA, FDA, AABB, cGMP, and other regulatory standards and adhere to the Blood Center's standards and policies.All duties as assigned.We need someone who hasFor MLTs, ASCP certification or equivalent required at hire.For MLS with relevant experience, ASCP required upon hire; if new graduate, certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Failure to obtain certification within the required time frame may lead to termination of employment.Valid Texas Driver's License (TDL) and acceptable driving record.Must meet the standards of the Blood Center's Vehicle Safety Program.MLT (ASCP or equivalent) plus minimum 2 years of advanced and recent (within the past 1–2 years) blood bank and immunohematology experience, preferred; orMLS (ASCP or equivalent) with recent (within the past 1–2 years) blood bank and immunohematology experience preferred; orMLS new graduate eligible to take the certification exam; certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
